John R. Mabee Assistant Professor of Clinical Born in San Francisco, CA on September 18, 1956, Dr. Mabee's childhood years were spent living in France and the United States. During his teenage/adolescent years, he lived in Japan where he graduated from high school. Dr. Mabee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Regents College (NY, 1981), a Physician Assistant Certificate from Northeastern University (MA, 1981), a Certificate of Completion, PA Residency in Emergency Medicine at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center (CA, 1984), a Master of Science degree in Biology from California State University, Los Angeles (CA, 1991), and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from The Union Institute and University (OH, 2001). He has spent over 20 years of experience as a clinically practicing PA, 17 of which were spent at LAC-USC Medical Center in emergency medicine serving the needs of a diverse, medically underserved population. Dr. Mabee's academic experience includes teaching at the college/professional school level, bench-side laboratory research, and clinical investigations involving human subjects. He has 15 peer-reviewed publications, 5 abstracts, and several manuscripts in progress. Dr. Mabee's areas of research interest include acute and chronic inflammation, topics in anesthesia, and topics in PA education. His personal interests include music and Tae Kwon Do where he holds a rank of 3rd degree black belt. Research Interests
