Faculty

Maureen Strohm, M.D.


Program Director

Dr. Strohm has been with this program since its inception in 1984, first as a community preceptor, later as Clinic Director, and now as Program Director since 1995. Dr. Strohm has special interests in doctor-patient communication, maternal and child health, substance abuse, and family violence. She is an avid runner and is proud to have completed more than a dozen Marathons. Dr. Strohm was selected as one of "The Best Doctors in America" for 1996-1997 and again in 1998-1999. She was selected as one of the top family doctors in the U.S. in 2000. Dr. Strohm attended Santa Clara University and received her medical degree from Georgetown University. She completed residency training at UCLA and is board certified in Family Practice.

Carrie Nichols , M.D.

Family Physician Faculty

Dr. Nichols attended medical school at the University of North Dakota and completed her residency at the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program. In addition to joining the USC Faculty in 2004 Dr Nichols also completed the USC Faculty Development Fellowship at USC. Dr. Nichols is one of the first FP's to be granted C-Section privileges at CHMC and she provides the operative OB back up for the USC FPC patients and our community clinic partners. Her areas of interest include obstetrics and women's health.

Diana Lev , M.D.


Family Physician Faculty

Dr. Lev attended the American University of the Caribbean, Montserrat where she earned a Master of Science in Medical Sciences in 1998 and her M.D. in 1999. She completed her residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in 2004. Following residency, Dr. Lev trained as a maternity fellow at USC California Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program and will be joining our faculty upon completion of her fellowship. Dr. Lev is an accomplished painter and photographer. Her areas of interest are obstetrics and women's health.

Kelly Jones, M.D.

Dr. Jones joined our faculty after completing 4 post-graduate years working in underserved communities in the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Jones completed her family medicine residency at Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Practice Residency Program in 1997. As a resident, she was recognized for her leadership capabilities in her appointment as Chief Resident. She has focused her faculty work in our USC/CHMC Family Medicine Faculty Fellowship in Maternity and Child Health Development. Her areas of special interest remain in Obstetrics, including community medicine, and women's health.

Namirah Jamshed, M.D.

Anthony Zamudio, Ph.D.


Director of Behavioral Science

Dr. Zamudio received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCLA. He has experience working with children, families, and adults from the San Fernando Child Guidance Center and his many years in Private Practice. He is currently participating in a study on marital counseling. Dr. Zamudio established a psychology training program, which provides residents the opportunity to practice a team approach to serving a patient's medical and psychosocial needs. Dr. Zamudio's research interests include HIV within the ethnic minority communities; the family life cycle and cross-cultural issues, and psychosocial needs in primary care.

Z. Joseph Wanski, M.D.


Internal Medicine Endocrinology

Dr. Wanski is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and has been affiliated with CHMC for 24 years, most of those as a faculty member in the Family Medicine Residency Program and coordinator of Internal Medicine Inpatient Services. Active in private practice, Dr. Wanski, has created a center in the downtown area for the management and treatment of diabetes. Residents often choose to spend an elective in endocrinology under the supervision of Dr. Wanski.
