Self Study
The Pacific AETC strongly recommends that trainees assess
their learning throughout the program.
Our recommendations include working through some of the cases
available at HIV
Web Study, provided by the University of Washington and
the Northwest AIDS Education and Training Center. For practicing
clinicians, this site offers free CME credit. For residents
completing our clinical training program, it is required that
at least four cases are completed during their week of training,
to be documented by printing out the accompanying certificates
for each case. In addition, this self-study should be utilized
whenever regularly scheduled sessions and/or optional activities
are unavailable.
Cases on the Web,
provided by the International AIDS Society-USA, also offers
case studies. Continuing medical education credit may be available.
Another resource for clinicians' self study is www.STDcases.org,
developed by the National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training
Centers. This online STD Case Series provides continuing education
for health care practitioners who work with persons with or
at risk for sexually transmitted disease.
