Interactive Workshops
The Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center at USC offers
dynamic, interactive skill development workshops for providers,
nurses, and other health care professionals.
Our skill development workshops can be provided onsite at
Community and Migrant Center Clinics, other community agencies,
or correctional facilities, including L.A.
County Jail. Programs are designed based on the clinic
needs. Workshops are generally two to four hours in length.
Many of our workshops feature the use of standardized
patients. Standardized patients are actors who are carefully
trained to portray real patient cases. The standardized patient
workshops are specifically designed to offer practitioners
an opportunity to practice skills in interviewing and counseling
on selected topic areas.
Individualized workshops can be designed especially for primary
care dental practitioners, nurses, and other health care professionals
to address the needs and interests of clinicians and clinics.
Types of Workshops
- HIV/AIDS 101
- HIV Risk Assessment and Counseling
- HIV Risk Assessment for Dental Practitioners
- HIV Rapid Testing
- Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
- Prevention for Positives
- HIV and Transgender Patients
- Cultural Competency
There is normally no cost to clinics or participants for
this training. The Pacific AETC receives funding from the
U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to
provide education and training services for healthcare professionals.
We can provide CME credit through the Keck School of Medicine
of the University of Southern California
