ACT for KIDS
This organization is a great resource for professionals and parents. They provide prevention and intervention resources for child sexual abuse and other forms of family trauma, as well as a wealth of resources on self esteem and character development.

Adolescent Directory On-Line (ADOL)
ADOL is a very helpful electronic guide to information on adolescent issues, with great links.

America's Teens
This site is provided by the Federal government, and has resources for teens on how to do research in the sciences, history, etc., while also providing information and links for volunteering and employment opportunities, how to get a social security card, financial aid for college, information to help pursue a hobby, choose a career or have some fun.

BAM! Body and Mind (CDC)
A fun website that answers kids' questions on health issues, while also making suggestions on ways to make their bodies and minds healthier, stronger and safer. It also serves as a resource to teachers, providing interactive activities to support health and science curriculums.

Bananas
This is a referral agency serving families in Northern Alameda County, California. They provide free parenting information, workshops and referrals to family child care and child care centers, preschools, babysitters and more. They also offer training, workshops, technical support and classes to child care programs and caregivers, and offer their services in a variety of languages.

Boys and Girls Clubs of America
Boys & Girls Clubs offer many types of programs and services in a safe environment that promote and enhance the positive development of boys and girls. Program areas include: education, environment, health, arts, careers, alcohol/drug and pregnancy prevention, gang prevention, leadership development and athletics. Local clubs can be identified on their website.

Bureau of At-Risk Youth
The Bureau For At-Risk Youth is an educational publisher and distributor of programs, videos, publications and products for youth at-risk and their caregivers.

Center for Media Literacy
Their mission is to bring media literacy education to every child, school and home through their national organization including various supporters of media literacy. They design, develop and distribute media literacy educational materials at workshops, trainings and seminars for youth, teachers, schools, parents and community leaders, all of which are available on their website.

Center for Mental Health Services- Children, Adolescents & Families Branch
Provides tips and resources for parents and teens on mental health issues.

Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN)
KEN provides numerous publications and resources about mental health for youth and their families, the general public, policy makers, providers, and the media.

Mental Health Services Locator
Database to search for state mental health statistics, resources and services.

Child Welfare League of America (CWLA)
CWLA is involved with prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, by providing information on various services, such as positive youth development programs, child care, family-centered practice and programs for pregnant and parenting teenagers.

Children's Safety Network
A resource center, which provides technical assistance and information, facilitates the implementation and evaluation of injury prevention programs and conducts analytical and policy activities that improve injury and violence prevention. They have been also been influential in the integration of injury and violence prevention into maternal and child health programs.

Here Is What We Can All Do for Our Children: A Guide for Parents
This brochure reviews steps that parents can take to ensure that their children stay violence-free. Includes tips for peaceful solutions to arguments. Available in Spanish.

Injury Prevention Web - State by State Resources
An interactive map that provides state contacts for childhood injury prevention.

Children's Defense Fund (CDF)
The CDF exists to provide a strong and effective voice for all the children of America, who cannot vote, lobby, or speak for themselves. They pay particular attention to the needs of poor and minority children and those with disabilities.

Children, Youth and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet)
CYFERnet's brings together the best, children, youth and family resources and provides comprehensive information on tools for working with youth, parents, families and communities, while also helping locate experts in the area. They share the latest research, statistical, and demographic information, along with practical research-based tools, curricula and activities for professionals, while also involving youth with online activities such as Cyber Camps.

Community Justice Exchange
The Community Justice Exchange provides information and assistance to community justice planners. They provide the latest news and developments, and provide a space to connect with peers. They offer model community justice initiatives, and provide a searchable database of community justice programs locally and nationwide.

Connect for Kids
As a project of the Benton Foundation, this is an award-winning multimedia organization which
assists adults in becoming more active, productive and supportive citizens in their communities, making them better places for families and children. They offer great resources, tips and links.

CPHV: Straight Talk About Kids (STAR)
Provides educational materials and programs aimed at children and adults about gun violence, firearm homicide, suicide and unintentional shootings and violence in schools.

Facts for Families (AACAP)
Provides concise and up-to-date information on issues that affect children, teenagers and their families. Includes many violence-related topics.

Family Doctor - Health Information (AAFP)
Health information for the whole family on topics such as staying healthy and common health concerns, drug Information including facts on common medicines, including possible interactions, herbal and alternative remedy suggestions, a web directory, which has a listing of family physicians and practices, as well as advice on home treatments.

Family Education Network
Provides a wealth of information for parents, teens and teachers on how to take control of their learning and make it part of their everyday lives.

Family Resource Coalition of America
This is a nationally recognized movement, which promotes strengthening family support systems and practices. It provides a great space to identify and connect individuals and organizations that have contact with families. They also provide technical assistance, training and education, conferences and publications.

Girl Power! (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services)
This is a national public education campaign to help encourage and motivate 9- to 14- year-old girls reinforce and sustain positive values through health messages.

Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide)
The Community Guide summarizes what is known about the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness for community-based interventions, and addresses a variety of health topics important to communities, public health agencies and health care systems.

Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB)
The FYSB has worked to promote a strong continuum of care for youth growing up in difficult situations, promote youth development and continues to support local communities in providing services and opportunities to young people, particularly runaway and homeless youth.

National Clearinghouse on Families & Youth
They assist young people and families seeking information, resources and support.

Healthfinder
A free guide to reliable health and human services information. It provides access to online publications, clearinghouses, databases, support and self-help groups, as well as government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public.

Health Hotlines
Health Hotlines is a compilation of organizations with toll-free telephone numbers, derived from the National Library of Medicine's Directory of Information Resources Online. Some of the subject areas included in Health Hotlines are AIDS, cancer, maternal and child health, aging, substance abuse, disabilities, and mental health.

Healthy Child Care America: Blueprint for Action
Blueprint for Action is the result of a collaborative forum involving health professionals and early childhood professionals from localities, states, and national organizations and agencies. It outlines 10 steps communities can take to promote healthy and safe child-care.

Just Think
Just Think provides children and adolescents with the skills and knowledge to be critical, creative thinkers through the media literacy education programs they developed. They provide a wealth of resources on their website including curriculum guidebooks, a lesson bank, they provide a TV guide for parents and helpful links to other media literacy sites.

Kidsource Online
This site contains articles, sites, and safety information for newborns, toddlers to 12th graders. It also contains health information, articles on health topics, and an online store.

Lion and Lamb Project
This Project is an program by parents for parents, providing information about the effects of violent entertainment, toys and games on children's behavior through research, workshops, action kits and resource lists.

Parent Action Kit
The Project's Parent Action Kit details specific steps parents can take to reduce their children's exposure to glorified "entertainment" violence.

Make Time To Listen, Take Time To Talk
This is part of the CMHS School Violence Prevention Initiative and is designed to provide realistic guidance to parents and caregivers about "how to" create time to listen and take time to talk with their children.

Medem Medical Library - Child and Adolescent Health
Great resource for patient education and fact sheets for parents, teachers and teens.

National Parent Teacher's Association
Information to help identify school violence problems, find solutions, develop action plans, including a community violence prevention kit.

National School Safety Center
Information to train educators, law enforcers and other youth-serving professionals in the area of school crime prevention and safe school planning, and educational materials for parents.

National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign
The Campaign seeks to educate youth to reject illegal drugs. It targets youth ages 9-18-especially the vulnerable middle-school adolescents-their parents, and other adults who influence the choices young people make.

National Youth Violence Resource Center
The National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center is a central source of information on prevention and intervention programs, publications, research, and statistics on violence committed by and against children and teens.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention - Department of Justice
To provide national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization. OJJDP accomplishes this by supporting States and local communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects the public safety, holds offenders accountable, and provides treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of families and each individual juvenile.

Peter Stringham's Adolescent Violence Prevention resources
A page for parents and professionals who deal with adolescents, created by Peter Stringham M.D. who works at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. He provides information on the theories of violence, bullying, peer pressure and gangs, and much, much more.

Safe and Drug Free Schools Program - Department of Education
This Federal program works to reduce drug, alcohol and tobacco use, and violence, through education and prevention activities in our nation's schools. This program is designed to prevent violence in and around schools, and strengthen programs that prevent substance abuse.

Talking with Kids - Violence
This is a national initiative by Children Now and the Kaiser Family Foundation to encourage parents to talk with their children earlier and more often about tough issues like sex, HIV/AIDS, violence, alcohol and drug abuse.

Youth Alive
They are dedicated to reducing and preventing violence, and especially firearm homicide and suicide. They have begun model teen violence prevention efforts in Oakland and Los Angeles, and provide numerous resources for the teen and family on their website.

Youth Tree USA
This comprehensive site offers parents, teachers, youth workers and kids centralized information about local and national youth programs and resources.

Youth Violence Theme Page - Community Learning Network
This "Theme Page" has links to various resources related to youth violence prevention, including curricular resources and instructional materials.
