Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program is a multifaceted, multidisciplinary, and comprehensive program providing training in all areas of Cardiovascular Medicine. The program is an ACGME accredited 3-year program with exceptionally rich training in both clinical and didactic cardiovascular medicine and a wide array of clinical and basic science research opportunities.

Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Service

The mission of the University of Southern California (USC) Electrophysiology Service is to educate fellows in the comprehensive assessment and management of patients with electrophysiologically relevant disease processes. The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Program (CCEP) is a multifaceted, multidisciplinary, and comprehensive program providing training in all areas of clinical cardiac electrophysiology including non-invasive diagnostic assessment, invasive diagnostic assessment, pharmacologic therapy, and invasive therapies including ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator placement, as well as comprehensive patient follow-up. The program also provides didactic educational and research opportunities providing fellows with a training milieu which provides depth and breadth in order to achieve excellence in cardiac electrophysiology management.

LAC+USC Medical Center

The training experience at LAC+USC Medical Center is unique. Trainees practice in the largest acute care hospital in the United States. Each year, approximately 55,000 patients are admitted to the Medical Center and over 764,000 patient visits are made to the Outpatient Clinics and the Emergency Service, supported by more than 25 million laboratory tests and 4 million radiological procedures. Trainees are provided an excellent education in cardiovascular medicine due to the exceedingly broad array of cardiac illnesses seen at the Medical Center. Nearly 40 percent of the patients admitted to Cardiology have myopathic, valvular, or congenital heart disease, or are pregnant women with cardiac disease. The cultural diversity in the patient population provides an outstanding education opportunity for different aspects of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease. LAC+USC Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital for the cardiovascular disease residency training program.

USC/Norris Cancer Hospital

USC/Norris Cancer Hospital serves as a regional, national, and international referral hospital for oncology patients who can best benefit from the special knowledge and skill of USC physicians. The cardiovascular disease residency training program provides a consultative service at Norris.

USC University Hospital

University Hospital is a specialized 275 bed private tertiary referral hospital. The highly skilled staff and physicians provide a broad spectrum of specialized medical programs. The faculty cardiologists, along with the cardiovascular trainees, serve both inpatients and outpatients referred for cardiac evaluation. This facility allows the cardiovascular disease trainee experience in providing highly skilled tertiary care in conjunction with other health care professionals.
