The Division of Hematology is a leading contributor to both basic science and clinical research at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. Fellows spend 6-8 months engaged in basic or translational research, during the senior year of Hematology Fellowship. The research interests of the faculty of the Hematology Section are diverse including basic and clinical research in the following fields:

  • Vascular biology
  • Clinical and biologic disorders of blood coagulation
  • Sickle cell disease and blood rheology program
  • Clinical and translational research program in autoimmune hemolytic disorders
  • Translational research program in acute and chronic leukemias
  • Plasma cell disorders clinical research program
  • Translational research program in malignant lymphomas and Hodgkin’s disease
  • Biology, pathogenesis and treatment of HIV disease-related malignancies
  • Clinical and translational research program in myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative disorders
