EDUCATION
University of California, Berkeley: B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology Emphasis (2000-2004) .

University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine: pursuing PhD in Pathobiology (2004-present).

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Junior/Global Discovery Instructor: University of California, Los Angeles (2004)
Taught abnormal psychology, algebra, and “skills for academic success” classes to high school students as part of the UCLA Recreation Youth & Family Program.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am interested in investigating tumor angiogenesis in gliomas and breast cancer brain metastases and the mechanisms behind why tumor-derived endothelial cells are resistant to apoptosis. Tumor-derived endothelial cells have higher levels of antiapoptotic proteins than normal endothelial cells; by targeting and downregulating these inhibitors of apoptosis through molecular techniques, the tumor-derived endothelial cells will be susceptible to cytotoxic drug therapy.

HONORS & AWARDS
T eaching Assistant Fellowship from the Dept. of Pathology, Keck School of Medicine, USC (2004).

Biology Scholar, University of California, Berkeley (2000-2004).

Bank of America Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics (2000).
