For the year 2002-2003, the USC Department of Neurology
ranked 19th in federal funding among national neurology departments.
Faculty members also receive funding from several foundations
that offer competitive grant support.
Department physicians possess expertise in areas of neurology
that supplement those found in community settings. The department's
research program, both basic and clinical, provides direct
benefits for patients with diseases that may not be treatable
by ordinary means. Clinical trials are currently ongoing for
movement disorders, principally Parkinson's disease, multiple
sclerosis, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy and more.
