Dr Beydoun provides subspecialty consultations in neuromuscular diseases. Patients are usually referred for second opinions for clinical and diagnostic evaluation, neurophysiologic testing, and treatment suggestions.
For immune-mediated neuromuscular disorders, immunotherapy options are suggested. Dr Beydoun is the director of the Infusion Center at the Leslie P. Weiner Neurological Care Center, where patients, who are candidates for immunomodulatory treatment, can receive intravenous immunoglobulins therapy (IVIG) or other form of immunomodulatory therapy, if applicable. Patients are closely monitored and supervised throughout their infusion; a nurse dedicated to the infusion center provides direct and constant nursing supervision.
Patients with neuropathy are evaluated thoroughly hoping to identify a treatable cause. Dr Beydoun has expertise in the treatment of painful neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy and neuropathic pain. Close collaboration with members of the USC Pain Clinic is provided to patients with complex neuropathic pain, who require a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of their pain.
For patients with motor neuron disease or other complex neuromuscular disorders, Dr Beydoun works in close collaboration with USC subspecialists in pulmonary medicine, foregut services, rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social services. An integrated approach to attend to the various patient problems is provided.
