Emergency Medicine
Several division members were nominated for the Morris and Mary Press Humanism Award. In addition, there have been multiple TV and radio segments given by several physicians in the division.
Community Outreach Programs
The ED physicians frequently have given lectures to outside community hospitals and organizations on such topics as fever, multi-system trauma, pediatric resuscitation, burns and hypnosis.
Other Highlights
The division has been involved in a multi-discipline group, ED-FPT.
The team objective is:
- Enhance efficiency of the Emergency Department operations by improving patient flow, referrals, admissions, follow-up and remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.

With increasing utilization of ED services, a multifunctioning team was assembled to develop plans for increasing efficiency and services, decreasing waiting times for families, streamlining admitting procedures and improving communications with referring physicians. Several recommendations are to be instituted in 2002.
