LABORATORY
The MCA Virology Research Laboratory is certified by both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to perform infectious disease and virology research for clinical trials and natural history studies. Our laboratory consists of immunologists, virologists, research associates, technologists, technicians and data management staff. Laboratory personnel have over 20 years of experience in clinical virology, serology, cellular immunology and flow cytometry, tissue culture, molecular virology, including quantitative PCR for RNA and DNA, sequencing and cloning, and repository management. The MCA laboratory is certified by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH, and the CDC Quality Assurance Programs. MCA has served as the central laboratory for the Los Angeles Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), the USC Maternal Child Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (PACTU), and the Adolescent Trials Network of Los Angeles, and services a total of 7 sites within the greater Los Angeles area.
