RESEARCH SPONSORS
Research at the MCA Center is supported by a wide range of grants and private funding. Through such support, MCA has participated in a number of international and collaborative multi-site studies and has also developed its own investigator-initiated protocols.
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) — NIH is the primary US government agency responsible for funding and supporting biomedical research. The MCA Center has been a Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Unit funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) since 1992, and is a participating member of the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group and Adolescent Trials Network through the support of the NIH.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — The CDC is the leading US government agency in the protection of public health and safety. CDC-sponsored research at MCA includes many of our observational and epidemiologic studies that aim to address key issues in infectious disease transmission.
- Industry Sponsors — The MCA Center participates in a number of Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III clinical trials supported by members of the pharmaceutical industry involved in medication research and development, including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Merck.
