Neonatology

HOSPITALIST POSITIONS AVAILABLE, SUMMER 2007, in the Center for Newborn and Infant Critical Care at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles

The CHLA Section of the USC Division of Neonatology at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) has two “hospitalist” positions open in the Center for Newborn and Infant Critical Care (CNICC) for the academic year starting July 1, 2007. Contracts will be offered for 1 year with the possibility of renewal every year without a limit on the number of renewals.

Schedule:

1. Two hospitalists provide service working every other week. This way there is one hospitalist on service every day in the CNICC.

2. When the hospitalist is on service, he/she works from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the weekdays and from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

3. No night-calls are required.

4. Vacations longer than one week can be arranged between the two hospitalists with the one hospitalist providing coverage for an additional week (two weeks in a row) and vice versa.

Job description:

Under the supervision of the attending neonatologist on service and with the help of the neonatology fellow on one of the two teams, the hospitalist provides all aspects of direct clinical care for up 9 patients in the CNICC. The average daily census is 30 in the CNICC and the two teams are serviced by two neonatology attendings, two neonatology fellows, four pediatric residents and one hospitalist. In addition, there is a 24/7 in-house attending coverage in the CNICC.

Philippe Friedlich, MD, MS Epi, Section Head of CHLA Operations and Medical Director, CNICC is responsible for administrative supervision of the physicians working as hospitalists in the CNICC.

Compensation:

1. Competitive compensation package is provided.

3. Medical insurance for the hospitalist can be negotiated.
