Description of fellowship:
The Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) offers an ACGME-accredited Fellowship that is designed to provide experience in all aspects of Pediatric Anesthesiology, as well as an opportunity for clinical or basic research relating to the field. Patient care duties include perioperative evaluation and administration of anesthesia under attending staff supervision for all types of pediatric surgical cases.
The Anesthesiology Fellowship program provides outstanding clinical experience in all of the surgical specialties, including all organ transplantation. Opportunities to participate in the administration of anesthesia outside of the operating room for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as functioning as a consultant for the hospital’s Comfort and Pain Management Program are integral parts of the Fellowship training.
The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship consists of the following rotations:
- Main O.R.- 5 months
- Cardiac Service - 2 months
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - 1 month
- Comfort and Pain Management Team - 1 month
- Elective - 1 month
- Education Conference/Vacation - 1 month
- Radiology - 2 weeks
- PACU - 2 weeks
