History and Mission
The Global Health Program (GH) at the Keck School of Medicine of
USC began in the fall of 2009, offering a strong foundation in the natural sciences and strengthened and informed by courses from the Department of International Relations in the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences.
The mission of the GH program is to provide a well-rounded education focusing on the factors influencing the health of populations worldwide. The program addresses pressing global health issues and the demonstrated need for health professionals with international competencies.
The Bachelor of Science Program
The curriculum combines a natural and biomedical science foundation with courses in the humanities and social sciences, bringing disciplines together to discover new approaches to understanding and
improving the health of people worldwide.
Required courses in biology, international relations, economics, and health promotion, in conjunction with electives related to globalization, society, politics, and disease, provide opportunities for students to tailor their majors to specific areas of global heath that match their specific educational goals.
