Through research and education, the Division of Health Behavior encourages individuals to make lifestyle changes that will promote health and prevent disease. On the community level, researchers work to change social norms that encourage unhealthy lifestyles. The divisions newest research initiatives have focused on the role of culture, cultural assimilation, and migration patterns in health. Another focus is on improving public education programs to help narrow the gap between scientific discovery and applications for the public.
