In addition to its research projects, pilot studies, and developmental projects, the USC TTURC has six service cores, which provide administrative and research support to the rest of the center.

Administration Core
Leader: Dr. C. Anderson Johnson
Provides administrative leadership and support for the center.

Community Outreach & Education Core »
Leader: Dr. Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati
Ensures that the center's research addresses tobacco-use issues relevant to California, the Pacific Rim, and communities in which the research is carried out by establishing dialogue between researchers and the populations under study.

Measurement Development Core
Leader: Dr. Jennifer B. Unger
Develops and improves comprehensive measurements to be used in the center's surveys and field research projects.

Population Dynamics Core
Leader: Dr. Dowell Myers
Uses multiple databases to project population distributions and trends by culture/ethnicity, immigration status, and degree of acculturation. The core also assists policy researchers and decision makers to identify populations for health policy planning and implementation.

Statistical Core
Leader: Dr. Stanley P. Azen
Manages all databases, establishes management and analysis protocols, provides user datasets for specific analyses, provides statistical consultation and training, and carries out analyses as requested by project leaders.

Training and Faculty Development Core
Leader: Dr. C. Anderson Johnson
Trains new transdisciplinary researchers in TTURC’s graduate and postdoctoral training programs, as well as recruits and mentors faculty in transdisciplinary tobacco use research.
