The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California School of Medicine is committed to three equally important goals: clinical care, education and research.

We are proud of our decade's long record of clinical service to the residents of Los Angeles County. Much of our clinical activity is in the public sector, particularly at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center. In addition, we do provide private outpatient and inpatient care through the USC Faculty Practice Plan and the USC University Hospital.

Education remains a high priority. ACGME-accredited training programs are offered in general, child-adolescent, and forensic psychiatry. In addition, a fellowship program is available in Psychopharmacology. Medical student education is also an important activity, with students posted in all Departmental Divisions.

Departmental research interests run a wide gamut. While most of the current research is of a clinical nature, the new USC Neurogenetics Institute will play a prominent role in the Department of Psychiatry's research agenda in the future.
