Program
A resident is expected to possess an excellent knowledge base and clinical skills relative to his/her level of residency training. Further, a resident is expected to demonstrate good judgment at all times in matters relating to patient care and his/her relationships with peers, staff, and faculty.
To successfully complete the residency program, the following minimum standards apply:
Knowledge Base
In addition to completing all required clinical rotations, residents are expected to demonstrate a high order of knowledge about psychiatry. As currently measured by the annually administered Psychiatric Resident In-Training Examination (PRITE), a resident must minimally score above the 33rd percentile on the Global Psychiatry score. For the resident who fails to achieve this score, supervised remedial study and re-examination is required; successful performance is required on re-examination.
Clinical Skills
Residents are expected to demonstrate good clinical skills. A resident shall demonstrate good clinical skills (and knowledge) in periodic formal clinical skills examinations. As currently measured in the Clinical Skills Examination, a resident must minimally have a satisfactory on that examination. Successful performance is required on re-examination.
