An active and strong research program is a significant focus of the Division. Clinical research is ongoing at all times by the faculty and fellows. Residents and students are encouraged to participate in these projects. The Division annually publishes in major surgical journals, presents at national meetings, contributes text chapters and book publications and is represented at the major surgical and laparoscopic conferences.
Recent works include representation at the ACS Clinical Congress, American Surgical Association Annual Conference, and SAGES as well as numerous international meetings. Recent publications include Laparoscopic Splenectomy: Outcome and Efficacy in 103 Consecutive Patients published in the Annals of Surgery, October 1998; and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery - Techniques and Tips by Dr. Namir Katkhouda.
