Dr. B. S. Chandrasekhar
Dr. Bala S. Chandraskehar is Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Prior to joining U.S.C. in 1991, he was Chief of Plastic Surgery at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte for eight years.
After medical school in India, Dr. Chandrasekhar trained in New York and Virginia where he completed residencies in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He holds board certification in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. His society memberships include the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, California Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, Society of Head and Neck Surgeons and Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Chandrasekhar practices the full spectrum of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery including lasers and ultrasonic liposuction. His work has been featured in "Lifetime" Television, CNN and the major networks. He has written many original articles in scientific journals and several book chapters on plastic surgery topics. He teaches at the medical school at U.S.C. and is involved in the training of future plastic surgeons. His lectures have taken him to Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
One of Dr. Chandrasekhar's missions is to volunteer his services in lesser developed countries. he has operated on children with birth deformities in the Philippines, Thailand, China, Kenya, Guatemala and Colombia.
