Community Hospital Network

What Is the USC Community Hospital Network?

The USC Community Hospital Network (CHN) is a consortium of community hospitals that are linked to the USC Keck School of Medicine through a unique continuing medical education program that focuses on the specific CME needs of each hospital.

The USC CHN model’s approach is to enhance or complement the resources of the community hospital using the resources of the Keck School of Medicine to help community hospital physicians identify educational needs and develop educational responses using medical school experts and other community resources. The USC CHN provides the skills, staffing, and experience that no small or moderate-sized community hospital could afford alone. The USC CHN is financially feasible for the community hospital and conserves the time of the community physician.

What Can the USC Community Hospital Network Do for YOU?

The USC Community Hospital Network provides on-site continuing medical education (CME) programs to community hospitals that address the specific needs of physicians on staff by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and encompassing varied education formats. It brings the best Continuing Medical Education to your facility by

  • Providing a lunch-time hour-for-hour category 1 CME program that is responsive to the needs of your particular institution
  • Providing speakers from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and other medical community resources
  • Providing presentations that highlight the standard of care in medicine.
Helps your institution comply with regulatory bodies by
  • Providing CME programming that exceeds JCAHO’s hospital education recommendations
  • Providing needs assessment as one tool for quality review and educational planning
    Saves your institution money by
  • Scheduling, coordinating, attending all presentations, and working with your physicians to create a customized CME program. USC CHN eliminates salary and benefits cost of full-time on-site CME staff member(s), including office space expense and overhead costs.
  • Eliminating the need to maintain hospital CME accreditation. USC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
Enriches the professional life of your medical staff by
  • Increasing physician involvement with your institution
  • Providing category 1 programming for physicians and meeting education requirements for nurses and other allied health professionals
  • Providing convenient onsite programs—physicians no longer need to spend expensive time out of the office traveling to CME programs elsewhere. We bring the program to your site!
