Keck Scholar Program
Part of the Early Decision Admissions Program, Keck Scholars are a select group of medical students chosen for academic excellence, as well as altruism, leadership, commitment to service and compassion for humanity. As a Keck Scholar you will be welcomed into an elite group of medical students whose mission is to provide enlightened leadership, serve as Keck School ambassadors, engage in local community and national health care issues, conduct cutting edge research and participate in the finest patient care.
There are many benefits available to Keck Scholars. You are free to choose your own level of involvement. Before classes even begin, Keck Scholars are granted special access to university faculty, students, curriculum, and libraries. You will arrive on campus knowing that you have a place here.
Research Scholar Program
The Keck School of Medicine offers students who may be interested in a career in medical research the opportunity to take a full year of research experience with either a medical school faculty mentor or an approved faculty mentor at another institution. This program is open to any student who has completed the first or second year of medical school and is in good academic standing. Interested students must identify a faculty preceptor and present a description of the proposed research program and funds available in support of the program to the Associate Dean for Curriculum. A stipend, comparable to a graduate program, may be made through the Curriculum Office and will be supervised through the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs. Application for this program is made upon matriculation to the Keck School of Medicine early in the first year through the Curriculum Office.
