ELIGIBILITY
FOR POSTGRADUATE TRAINING
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants with
one of the following qualifications are eligible for appointment
to ACGME accredited residency programs:
- Graduates of medical schools in the United States and
Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education
(LCME).
- Graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine in the United
States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association
(AOA)
- Graduates of medical schools outside the United Sates
and Canada who meet the requirements of the Medical Board
of California for residency training and meet one of the
following qualifications:
- Have received a currently valid
certificate from the Education Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or
- Have a full and unrestricted license to practice
medicine in a U.S. jurisdiction.
- Graduates of medical schools outside the United States
who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an
LCME-accredited medical school.
NON-DISCRIMINATION: ACGME and otherwise

veteran status.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY: Each residency
program must select their candidates from among eligible applicants
on the basis of their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic
credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities
such as motivation and integrity.
- TRAINING DATE:
GY-1 training programs begin on June 24 of each year, except
for Pathology (July 1) and selected Psychiatry GY-1s (July
1). GY2-GY7 training programs begin on July 1 of each year.
