Residents are employees of the LAC+USC Medical Center. As such residents must follow the employee policies established by the County of Los Angeles and the State of California.

Employment Eligibility Verification

United States citizenship is not a requirement of employment. However, applicants who are not citizens of the U.S. must assume the responsibility for initiating and arranging their entry to the U.S. through the Immigration and Naturalization Service. LAC+USC Medical Center is not responsible for securing entry into the United States. All resident physicians upon inception of employment at LAC+USC Medical Center must be able to complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (INS Form I-9).

County of Los Angeles Equal Opportunity Policy

It is the policy of the Department of Health Services to afford equal employment opportunity to all persons.

This policy is in conformance with Federal, State, and Local Laws and Regulations related to equal employment opportunities.

Loyalty Oath

By State of California Law, as a condition of employment, County employees must be willing to take a Loyalty Oath, which reads as follows:

"I, your name, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter."

Fingerprinting & Employee Physical

Two other conditions of County employment are that County employees must be fingerprinted as part of the registration process upon beginning employment and must pass a pre-employment physical.

Social Security Number

A Social Security Number is required for County employment.
