A pioneer in vision research and home to internationally recognized Keck School faculty with broad clinical and research interests, the Doheny Eye Institute has a tradition of excellence in research and the care of degenerative eye diseases that can lead to serious vision loss such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Doheny Eye Institute consistently ranks among the top of ophthalmologic patient care centers in the United States by U.S. News & World Report and Ophthalmology Times. In addition, the National Eye Institute (NEI) awarded faculty with increased funding for research, moving the Doheny from 11th to sixth among vision research centers in the amount of funds received from the world-renowned NEI.
