Tyan Parker Dominguez, PhD, MPH, MSW of the Center for Premature Infant Health and Development was awarded the Maternal and Child Health Young Professional Award by the Maternal and Child Health Section of the American Public Health Association. The Award was presented to Dr. Parker-Dominguez at the 135th Annual Meeting and Exposition of the American Public Health Association in Washington, DC. Congratulations Tyan, you are most deserving of this honor!

BUILDING A COMMUNITY WITH GREATER COMPASSION
Research and Outreach to Eliminate the Black Infant Mortality Crisis

The Pasadena Birthing Project (PBP) recently received the Pasadena Community Foundation's Great Idea Award to host a Distinguished Lecture Series aimed at increasing the awareness of racial disparities in adverse birth outcomes and stimulate community dialogue around this persistent public health problem. Wenonah Valentine, MBA, Executive Director of the Pasadena Birthing Project has invited the USC Center for Premature Infant Health and Development to co-host this exciting series of lectures. The Center is honored to co-host these events, and we invite you to save the following dates to attend these exciting, engaging and enlightening talks and discussions. Lecture topics will address elements that are required to build a compassionate community to address the black infant mortality crisis. Talks will be followed a discussion and reception period allowing the speaker to interact with audience members.
