Microarray Core Facility

This facility provides microarray core services on a fee per service basis.

The newly established Microarray Core Facility provides USC affiliated researchers access to cutting edge genetic research - the microarray technology. Microarray is a technique that can be applied to many fields of research from genotyping and gene expression to resequencing and comparative genome analysis. Microarray allows hundreds to thousands of target nucleic acids to be analyzed simultaneously and precisely. This sensitive and high-throughput large-scale technology will facilitate gene expression, genomic alteration and signaling pathways profiling for a wide variety of organisms. Identification of genes involved in pathogenesis and molecular fingerprinting of patients, especially in complex diseases as cancer, will assist diagnosis, specific and thus efficient patient management and prevention.

The Microarray Core consists of high-throughput DNA arraying robot, multicolor fluorescence scanner, robotic liquid handling system, DNA engine continuous fluorescence detection system for real time PCR, bioanalyzer (RNA,DNA, and protein quality/quantity chips) and the expertise of the staff to perform array-based experiments.
