The research institutes of the Keck School of Medicine provide a place for in-depth, integrative studies of genetics, cancer, pediatric disease, neurogenetics and disease prevention. The institutes attract outstanding researchers interested in solving complex problems of biomedicine.

Defined both by a physical space and research vision, institutes create intellectual, dynamic atmospheres that encourage the free exchange of ideas among faculty and students so key to innovation in science. Institutes foster discovery as well as the development of novel theories and approaches. The institutes are home to some of the Keck’s most high-profile scientists and clinicians.

At the Institute for Genetic Medicine, scientists explore the molecular underpinnings of disease and work to develop new therapies and diagnostic tools.

The Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research performs multidisciplinary research on health behavior and disease prevention on the individual, community and population levels.

Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute »

USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center »
A research institute integrated with a state-of-the-art patient care facility, the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center is a leader in cancer research, recognized for excellence for its programs in epidemiology, therapeutic investigations and translational research.

 

 

Construction work has begun in earnest on the Harlyne J. Norris Cancer Research Tower, and the project’s supporters and benefactors were on hand Jan. 22 for a tour of the site.




Los Angeles businessman Selim K. Zilkha gave $20 million to complete the construction of the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute, which opened in 2003.
