The Role of Neuronal Activity in the Development of the Visual System

I will be discussing work from my lab and others addressing how patterns of neuronal activity work to shape precise connections during the early development of visual system pathways.  I will talk about what can be learned from altering patterns of activity and of gene expression in the young retina, and will highlight open questions in the field.
