Elaine Sawitskas
Business Manager

Elaine Sawitskas is the financial manager for the department, overseeing the annual operating budget and administering income and expenditures for print publications, marketing programs and public relations projects. Her duties include preparing budget estimates for publications and marketing projects, coordinating with outside vendors and university purchasing teams, managing the department’s receivables and payables, and overseeing personnel-related tasks such as job postings, new hires and annual evaluations.

Elaine manages the expenses for several department publications including the HSC Weekly, USC Health Now, USC Health Magazine, Keck Medicine Magazine and the USC/ Norris Cancer Report. She also oversees budgets for the marketing programs for the Doctors of USC, the Keck School of Medicine Website and special events.

Elaine joined the Health Sciences Public Relations and Marketing office in 2007. She previously worked in development communications and operations for the USC Viterbi School of Engineering development office for four years. She also served as a research administrator for the General Clinical Research Center and the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, a position she held for eight years.

Prior to joining the university, Elaine spent five years in events management and marketing/communications in the software industry, and 10 years with a student loan servicing organization. She received a degree in business from Cal State, Dominguez Hills with a concentration in computer information systems.
