General Clinical Research Center

The Keck School of Medicine is home to the nation’s largest NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center. The GCRC provides research services and support for a variety of clinical investigations – from diabetes to seizure disorders.

Health Research Association

Health Research Association (HRA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of Southern California (USC), provides clinical trial support services to the USC & Los Angeles County Health Science Campus. HRA expertly joins Sponsors and Clinical Research Organizations with internationally acclaimed medical research faculty from all six hospitals in the USC/LA County campus.

HRA supports hundreds of USC faculty researchers with fiscal management, project staffing, purchasing, contracting, budgeting, project accounting, sponsor/investigator financial reporting, staff development and training, IRB document preparation, study opportunities, proposal preparation/grant writing, and other clinical research administrative tasks.

The Investigational Drug Pharmacy at HRA manages all investigational products tracking, mixing, dispensing and monitoring. HRA can assist investigators with patient accrual and community outreach.

HRA also provides grant support and funding for new investigators who are interested in clinical research but are new to the field.

HRA is dedicated to ensuring the work of the USC Principal Investigators is completed in a timely way while adhering to all the regulations and laws governing human subject clinical research.

For more information, call (323) 223-2340 or visit the HRA web site.

Institutional Review Board

The USC Health Sciences Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a panel of 36 scientists, researchers and others in the community who review and approve proposals for clinical trials conducted by investigators of USC. The board is responsible for reviewing each proposal for safety and ethical issues and ensures the protection of patients participating in research projects.

The IRB is managed by the USC Office of Research Advancement. For more information, call (323) 223-2340 or visit the web site.
