Faculty Committees
Faculty research committees are comprised of a group of stake-holders that provide advice to the dean on matters involving research, that oversee important research activities at the school, or that implement specific research functions. The following is a current list of research committees. Please click the links to view committee rosters and other information pertaining to the committee’s role.

Dean’s Research Cabinet

Chair
M. Elizabeth Fini, Ph.D.

The DRC serves as an advisory board to the Dean on all matters pertaining to research. The committee meets monthly.


Faculty Research Council

Co-Chairs
Michael R. Stallcup, Ph.D. &
Thomas A. Buchanan, M.D.

The FRC reviews the recruitment of any faculty member, whether external or internal, who will be entering the tenure track of the Keck School of Medicine, except for department chairs and institute directors. The committee meets biweekly.


Scientific Conduct Committee

Chair
Stanley P. Azen, Ph.D.

The SCC reviews cases of possible scientific misconduct at the Keck School of Medicine, and makes recommendations to the Dean and the Vice Provost for Research. The committee meets as needed.


Graduate Council

Chair
Gerhard A. Coetzee, Ph.D.

The GC provides advice to the dean about matters of Ph.D. graduate education in the health sciences, and implements strategic initiatives. Committee meetings are scheduled as needed.


Graduate Admissions Committee

Chair
Richard M. Watanabe, Ph.D.

The GAC manages applications and admissions to the graduate programs granting Ph.D. degrees in the health sciences. The committee meets weekly from mid-December through mid-April at a location determined on an ad hoc basis.


Laboratory Masters Steering Committee

Chair
Zoltan A. Tokes, Ph.D.

The LMSC manages applications and admissions to the graduate programs awarding masters degrees in the laboratory health sciences.  Committee meetings are scheduled as needed.


Dean’s Translational Medicine Seminar Committee

Chair
Robert S. Decker, Ph.D.

The Translational Medicine Seminar Committee organizes the seminar series which features speakers invited from across the nation and the world that have made high impact contributions to medical research. The committee meets on an ad hoc basis.

KSOM Research Seminar Committee

The Research Seminar Committee organizes the seminar series which features basic and translational research presentations by internal speakers from the USC faculty, as well as guests invited from local institutions and across the nation. The committee meets on an ad hoc basis.
