Recent Foundation Gifts to the Keck School of Medicine
Burbank Health Care Foundation
The Burbank Health Care Foundation provides first time
support to the Keck School of Medicine to fund scholarships
to two Burbank area medical students.
UniHealth Foundation
The UniHealth Foundation continues its support of needs-based
medical student scholarship at the Keck School of Medicine
of USC.
The Hastings Foundation
The Hastings Foundation provides unceasing substantial
faculty support for our own Hastings Professors, Edward Crandall,
PhD, MD; John M. Peters, MD, ScD; Parviz Minoo, PhD and Vaughn
A. Starnes, MD, as well as support for the Hastings Thoracic
Oncology Research Laboratory under the direction of Vaughn
A. Starnes, MD and Ross M. Bremner, MD.
ARCS Foundation, Inc. - Los Angeles Founder Chapter
With continued long-standing support of the Keck School
of Medicine and its academically outstanding medical students
who are in need of financial assistance, the ARCS Foundation,
Inc., Los Angeles Founder Chapter generously supported seven
medical students with scholarships, the Betty and Frank Whiting
Scholar; Eloise C. Goodhew Barnett Scholars; Maggie Russell
and Occidental Petroleum/Dale Laurence Scholar; Ryan Craft
Cormney Memorial Scholar and the John H. Richardson and Margaret
Kersten Ponty Endowed Fellowship/Norris Comprehensive Cancer
Center.
Southern California Edison International
Southern California Edison International provides a generous
pledge towards the Edward Zapanta Endowed Scholarship for
Hispanic Leadership in Academic Medicine.
Dan Murphy Foundation
Dan Murphy Foundation provides a generous commitment towards
multi-year gift for research in the area of neurology, lead
by Professor and Chairman, Leslie P. Weiner, M.D.
L.K. Whittier Foundation
The L.K. Whittier Foundation provides extensive commitment
for cutting-edge research to The L.K. Whittier Foundation
Tailored-Therapies Initiative at USC/Norris. A five-year program
set up to address the needs of scientists seeking funds for
research into tailored therapies targeting an individual's
cancer.
Tappan Foundation
The Tappan Foundation provides continued needs-based medical
student scholarships for Years II, III, and IV medical students
at the Keck School of Medicine.
The Pew Charitable Trusts
The Pew Charitable Trusts are currently providing prestigious
support to two outstanding Keck School of Medicine junior
faculty members for two successive years in a row! Chosen
for 2001 was Ebrahim Zandi, PhD and chosen for 2002 was Ralf
Langen, PhD for their promising biomedical research.
Oxnard Foundation
The Oxnard Foundation is currently providing considerable
funding for a cutting-edge four-year pilot research project
lead by Leslie P. Weiner, MD on Neuro repair and regeneration
via adult stem cells.
Donald E. & Delia B. Baxter Foundation
The Donald E. & Delia B. Baxter Foundation has supported
the Keck School of Medicine for more than 40 years by providing
promising junior faculty with one-time gifts for their cutting-edge
research. Additionally, funding is provided to the Baxter
Scholar Summer Research Fellowship program for medical students.
The program provides students with the opportunity to participate
in basic research or clinical investigation under the guidance
of faculty physicians and scientists.
The California Endowment
The California Endowment funds a multi-year "Centinela
Project" directed by Dr. Oscar E. Streeter, Jr. at the
Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Jerome Foundation
The Jerome Foundation provides on-going annual support
in the area of medical student scholarships.
MacKenzie Foundation
The MacKenzie Foundation supports medical students in
the area of scholarships.
QueensCare Charitable Division
QueensCare continues to prove on-going support of the
MS Comprehensive Care Center spearheaded by Norman Kachuck,
MD
Skirball Foundation
The Skirball Foundation supports research by Dr. Robert
W. Beart in the area of colorectal diseases.
