The Eric Cohen Student Health Center provides a wide range of services to students enrolled in classes on the Health Sciences Campus. The Student Health Center is located across from the Plaza Pharmacy in the HealthCare Consultation Center building adjacent to the University Hospital. The Eric Cohen Student Health Center represents the front-line for all student health concerns. Follow-up and specialty care can be obtained by scheduling appointments with physicians at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center.
The Student Health Fee covers all routine services provided by the Eric Cohen Student Health Center, including preventive medicine visits, acute care visits, and specialty services. In addition to the health center fee, all students are required to have health insurance coverage for acute and chronic disease management, including more specialized outpatient testing and care, emergency care, hospitalization, surgery, pregnancy, etc. For this required coverage, a comprehensive and affordable health insurance policy through Anthem/Blue Cross is automatically charged to students at the beginning of each semester by the University. Students will have a brief “waiver” period at the beginning of each semester when they may “opt-out” of the USC Anthem/Blue Cross insurance plan by providing evidence of a health insurance policy with equivalent coverage. For further information about this policy, contact the Student Health Insurance Office on the Health Science Campus.
The Director and staff of the Student Health Center takes the issues of privacy very seriously. We are acutely aware of the concerns of the students on the Health Science Campus regarding privacy and confidentiality. As a result, the primary care physicians at the USC Eric Cohen Student Health Center have no role in teaching or evaluation of students. Additionally, the Student Health Psychologist/Psychiatrist/Therapist has no role in the teaching or evaluation of students, thereby avoiding any potential or perceived concerns about confidentiality. There are no trainees of any nature at the USC Eric Cohen Student Health Center (students, interns or residents); only quality, experienced health care providers whose goal is to provide the best, most comprehensive student health services to all students on the Health Science Campus.
