Incoming Students

Welcome to the Trojan family! Your hard work and persistence have led you to one of the top-ranked national universities. Graduation will come sooner than you know it but during your time at the USC Health Science Campus, the Eric Cohen Student Health Center will be serving you as your healthcare resource. We are here to help you achieve your professional goals by providing you with preventive and quality care. Please take a moment to browse our website to see the services provided by our health center. Here is a quick glance of what to expect from the Eric Cohen Student Health Center before your first day of school.

  1. New Student Immunization Compliance Packet: If you are entering a clinical/professional program at the USC Health Science Campus, your academic program should have sent you a "New Student Immunization Compliance Packet" on behalf of the Eric Cohen Student Health Center. This might have been sent via mail or email. If you have not received the packet and you were already admitted into a specific academic program, please click on your specific clinical program under the Immunizations tab to view the packet you should have received. Please read through the packet as it contains immunization requirements that you need to fulfill before your first day at USC. The immunization coordinator at the Eric Cohen Student Health Center needs to review your immunizations and verify your compliance. The list of those that are compliant/non-compliant will be sent to your respective academic departments. Those that are non-compliant will be held back from participating in clinical activities.

Students that are not entering a clinical/professional program do not receive this packet. Please do not worry about those requirements.

  2. Student Health Insurance Fee: If you take a look at your financial statement from USC, you will see a Student Health Insurance fee of about $600.00. This fee is automatically posted on every USC student account, however it can be waived. Please refer the Insurance - Enrolling/Waiving tab to find out how to waive out of the insurance. You can also keep the USC Student Health Insurance via Aetna Student Health. If you don't take action to waive out of the student health insurance and leave the charges on your account, you will be automatically enrolled in the USC Student Health Insurance. Please refer to our Insurance tab for more information.

  3. Student Health Center Fee: If you take a look at your financial statement from USC, you will see a Student Health Center fee of about $250.00. This fee cannot be waived and will be automatically charged to your account every semester you are enrolled on the USC Health Science Campus. This fee allows students unlimited free visits with the medical and counseling providers. This also covers TB and bloodborne pathogen exposures tests. Please refer to the Student Health Center Fee tab on the website for more information.
Please note that we do not share medical records with the Engemann Student Health Center at the USC main campus. We are two separate student health centers. If you are a student at that campus, please contact them.

There is a lot of information that you will need to learn about your relationship with us during your stay at USC Health Science campus. We will present detailed information at your respective orientations and will be happy to answer any of your specific questions. Remember to look at your immunization compliance packet and get the documents sent to us as soon as possible. Getting this done during the summer will ease a lot of stress during your first few weeks of school. Once again, congratulations on achieving acceptance into USC. We are here to assist you with any of your health care needs.
