Eric Cohen recieved his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal. He went on to do his residency at Montreal General Hospital. During his residency he became interested in adolescent and young adult medicine. His original intention was to do an lective at Boston Children's Hospital, but one of his mentors directed him to Los Angeles, and USC, to study under Dr. Richard MacKenzie, director of Adolescent and Young Adult MEdicine at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Dr. MacKenzie recognized his gift and passion for teaching. Despite much resistance from Eric based on his own insecurity about teaching medical students and residants, who Eric felt knew more than he did. He finally conceded to co-leading an ICM group with Dr MacKenzie. Today we celebrate this decision.
