Investigators into the risk factors of atherosclerosis, the underlying cause of heart disease and stroke, and its modification. Current directions include the investigation of anti oxidants, hormones replacement therapy in post menopausul women, insulin sensitizing agents in diabetics in larde clinical trials. This investigation is linked to the study of the molecular mechanisms of risk, modification, and its expression to atherosclerosis. Other areas of investigation include development of technology for the nonicvasive detection and assessment of early subclinical atherosclerosis, including arterial wall thickness and stiffens with clinical application.
