Deadlines
Spring 2010 Admission (Graduate programs only)
October 1, 2009 – materials received deadline
Important note: this is a MATERIALS RECEIVED deadline (not a postmark deadline). All required materials (including standardized test scores such as GRE and TOEFL) must be received by this date in order to be given full consideration.
At the discretion of the appropriate Thornton faculty and the Thornton Admission office, there may be flexibility with this deadline in some cases.
Graduate applicants should carefully note that the following programs do not accept applications for spring semester entrance:
- Choral Music
- Composition
- Jazz Studies and Jazz Voice
- Sacred Music
- Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television
Undergraduate applications are not accepted for spring entrance, except when the applicant is a current USC student.
Fall 2010 Admission
December 1, 2009 – materials received deadline (This deadline applies to ALL applicants, including Freshman, Graduates, and Transfers.)

Current USC Students
USC undergraduates wishing to change their major to music in the fall semester of 2010 are required to submit all required application materials to the Thornton Admission office by the same deadline of December 1, 2009. For spring semester 2010 admission, the deadline is October 1, 2009.
Current USC undergraduates and current USC graduate students applying to graduate programs in music must adhere to the materials received deadlines listed above.
Current USC undergraduates wishing to declare a minor in music may submit the required application to the Thornton Admission office at any time.
