Getting to Campus

The USC Thornton School of Music is on the University of Southern California University Park Campus, near where the Santa Monica (I-10) and Harbor (I-110) freeways intersect. The campus is bounded by Jefferson Blvd. to the north, Figueroa St. to the east, Exposition Blvd. to the south and Vermont Ave. to the west.

Finding Thornton on Campus

The Thornton School has offices, studio spaces and performance halls in many different places across the USC campus. Refer to the map above for more detail.

If you can't find the service you're seeking, a good place to start is the Music Operations Department. They're located in the Booth Memorial Hall (BMH), Room 101, and are usually open until 6:00 p.m. on workdays.

The main USC Thornton buildings are:

  • MUS – Music Faculty Building:

  • ASI – Arnold Schoenberg Institute:
    1. Arnold Schoenberg Institute Auditorium
    2. Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance (Basement)
    3. Rehearsal studios and classrooms
  • WPH – Waite Phillips Hall:
    1. Departmental offices for: Music History and Literature, Early Music, Music Education (Room 304)
  • PIC – Practice Instructional Complex (also marked as SSM on some maps):
