It has been an honor to serve as Dean of the USC Thornton School of Music for the past five years. Our school has undergone a tremendous amount of growth and I eagerly look forward to what the future holds. It is my firm belief that the combined advantages we offer our students, including a remarkable faculty, the dynamic learning environment of a major research university, and our location in the world's foremost media, entertainment and cultural center, Los Angeles, make USC Thornton truly unique among music schools nationwide. Building upon our illustrious past, we have emerged a purveyor of an education relevant to the musical landscape of the 21st century. Not only are Thornton graduates entering the cultural work-force, they are indeed, defining it.

We didn't get here by ourselves though. We are deeply indebted to those who have lent their support over the years. Thornton’s success is owed to the community of dedicated friends and alumni who surround this school and have made it their own. Thanks to them, we are able to provide this unique education to current and future generations of talented music students.
