Thornton student Sara Davis (MM, harp, '12) won the Fenstermaker Award at the Musical Merit Foundation Competition. Her prize included $5000 and performance opportunities for the Close Encounters concert series. She also won the Lyon & Healy Awards Competition at the American Harp Society's ninth summer institute, this prize including $2000, a $500 Lyon & Healy gift certificatem, and a joint recital at Lyon & Healy Hall as part of the 2011–12 Lyon & Healy Hall Concert Series.
