Biography
Charles Koster, instructor of Baroque bassoon and dulcian, holds a master's degree in music theory from the University of Iowa and pursued doctoral studies at Indiana University. As a period instrument bassoonist, he performs regularly with Tafelmusik (Toronto), The City Musick (Chicago), Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (San Francisco), Magnificat (U.S. tours), American Bach Soloists (San Francisco), the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Musica Angelica and Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra. As a modern bassoonist, Mr. Koster has been a member of orchestras in the United States, Mexico and Germany, and has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony and Pacific Symphony Orchestra. He has published several articles relating to historical bassoons and reed making in the
Journal of the International Double Reed Society.
