Biography

Jason Goldman has gained prominence as a saxophonist, composer and arranger in the fields of jazz and popular music. He has performed with legendary jazz icons Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Christian McBride, Terence Blanchard, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, Phil Woods, Jon Faddis, Bobby Watson, Kenny Barron and Jim McNeely. Mr. Goldman has also performed with producer/singer Paul Anka, Wayne Newton, Chris Isaak, Michael Feinstein and Warner Bros./Reprise artists Reneé Olstead and Michael Buble. Mr. Goldman has arranged for multi-Grammy winning producer David Foster, Michael Bublé and American Idol contestant Clay Aiken. Mr. Goldman's arrangements are currently featured with Warner Bros/Reprise recording artist Michael Bublé, from which he has received a gold and platinum record. Several arrangements, including Mack the Knife, Fever, Moondance, For Once in My Life and Come Fly With Me are featured on Michael Buble's Come Fly With Me DVD (released March 2004), selling over 500,000 copies. Mr. Goldman's most noted arrangement of the song Smile, for Bublé, was recently released on the new CD/DVD Caught In The Act in 2005.

Mr. Goldman was recently named a winner of the 2005 ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award. He was also nominated for The Coca-Cola Company/NFAA's Distinguished Teachers in the Arts program in 2003 and he was the winner of the 2001 IAJE/ASCAP emerging artist commission honoring Dr. Billy Taylor, one of the most prestigious awards in the jazz composition field. His debut album The Jason Goldman Nonet – The Definitive Standard, which features Mr. Goldman´s compositions and his nine-piece jazz ensemble, has garnered rave reviews. Besides teaching at USC, he is the director of jazz and ASCAP composer-in-residence at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as well as a clinician/education consultant with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.
