Biography

Mr. Neil A. Shaw, FASA, FAES, is a Principal with Menlo Scientific Acoustics, Inc., Consultants in Acoustics and Communication Technologies in Topanga, California. His projects include the design of screening rooms and edit facilities for audio and video post-production, as well the Los Angeles Fire Department Headquarters building, the United States Courthouse in Fresno, the Los Angeles Police Department Mid-City (20th Area) Police Station, the Caltrans District 7 Headquarters building, the Rose Bowl, the Getty Villa, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the von Karman Auditorium at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Academic projects include the South Lawn College of Arts and Sciences building at the University of Virginia; the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences and the Genomics buildings at the University of California, Riverside; the Arts Building at the University of California, Irvine; and the Exotic Animal Training and Maintenance building at Moorpark College.  Transportation projects include the New York City Transit No. 7 Line Extension and the California High Speed Train Project, for which he has prepared electromagnetic compatibility guidelines and criteria. Mr. Shaw is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society, a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the SMPTE and the INCE. He attended the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and holds BS Engineering and MS Engineering degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles.
