Biography
Angel Figueroa, adjunct assistant professor, jazz studies, studied at USC, Santa Monica College and Loyola University in Chicago. He has presented lectures at the UCLA Hammer Museum, Crafts and Folk Arts Museum, Ruíz Belvis Cultural Center, Centro Unidad Latino, Casa Atzlán, The Association House, Urban Programs West-town, the Network for Youth Services in Chicago, Chino State Penitentiary and the Performing Tree in California. He is leader of the Caribbean Crew Latin Jazz Ensemble and is founder of the Percussion Artists Workshop. Mr. Figueroa has performed and recorded with musical luminaries such as Sting, Herbie Hancock, Billy Preston, Branford Marsalis, Ivan Neville, Chicago Latin Symphony Orchestra, Parliament Funkadelik and Zap Mama. Currently, he is a member of Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite Band.
