Agrippina
by George Frideric Handel
Brent McMunn, conductor
Ken Cazan, stage director
Peter Harrison, set designer
Jennifer Collins, costume desiger
Chris Kittrell, lighting designer
A tale of political intrigue for our times, Handel’s second opera is eerily parallel to stories that we read about or see on cable news. Performed on both modern and baroque instruments but set in the contemporary Rome of Prada and Berlusconi, this production of AGRIPPINA demonstrates that political decisions always stem from personal ambition, no matter what year it is. A West Coast staged premiere, don’t miss the gifted singer/actors of the Thornton School as they rip through this delightfully relevant dramatic comedy.
FEATURED INSTRUMENTALISTS
Lucinda Carver, harpsichord
Shanon Zusman, viola da gamba
