Breslow and Seven Other Prominent USC Alumni Feted at 76th Annual USC Alumni Awards Gala

David M. Breslow, CEO of the Institute for Community Pharmacy (ICP), received the Alumni Service Award from the University of Southern California at the 76th Annual USC Alumni Awards Gala on May 2, at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles.

The university's Alumni Service Awards "recognize outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of the university." Breslow, who earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the School of Pharmacy in 1971, has served as director and president of both the School of Pharmacy Alumni Association and the QSAD Centurion groups. Currently, he is a member of the school's Board of Councilors where he chairs the entrepreneurial committee.

Over the course of his 37-year career in pharmacy, Breslow has practiced in a variety of venues, including long-term care, home health care, corporate management, hospital pharmacy and management consulting. In his current position at ICP, Breslow carries out the organization's mission to advance the profession of community pharmacy and its role in improving quality care to patients.

Breslow's enthusiastic approach to the profession, the School of Pharmacy and to its students has brought other awards his way. In 2006, he was named Pharmacist of the Year by the California Pharmacists Association where he had previously served as senior vice president. In 2001, the USC School of Pharmacy honored Breslow as Outstanding Alumnus.

In addition to Breslow, the USC Alumni Association recognized seven other distinguished alumni for their achievements and contributions. Ronnie C. Chan MBA '76, chairman of the Hang Lung Group Limited in Hong Kong, will receive the Asa V. Call Achievement Award. Mark A. Stevens '81, MS '84, managing partner of Sequoia Capital, and Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Frances C. Wilson EdD'80 will receive Alumni Merit Awards. Alexander L. Cappello '77, chairman/CEO of Cappello Group, Inc., and James A. Eddy '52 and Dr. Janet Eddy '54, MS '78, PhD '91, of the Half Century Trojans will also receive Alumni Service Awards. Ron Orr '79, associate athletic director of USC Athletics, will receive the Fred B. Olds Award.

"Through their many accomplishments and acts of service, these eight alumni have proven themselves to be exemplary members of the Trojan Family," says Scott Mory, associate senior vice president for alumni relations.

Every year since 1932, the USC Alumni Association has paid tribute to distinguished members of the Trojan Family. The annual Alumni Awards Gala is the premier event sponsored by the Alumni Association. All proceeds from the event support the Alumni Association's programs, services and scholarships. Past honorees include Grammy-winning trumpeter Herb Alpert, former Secretary of State Warren M. Christopher, architect Frank O. Gehry, opera great Marilyn Horne, WNBA star Lisa Leslie and screen legend John Wayne. For more information, please visit http://alumni.usc.edu/awards.
