The Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics and the School of Policy, Planning and Development are seeking applicants for the position of non-tenure track research professor to conduct research in health economics and policy.

Position Description

The Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics and the School of Policy, Planning and Development are seeking a research scholar to increase our funded research activities in health economics, with a particular emphasis on the economics of hospital markets. Funding for this position will come primarily from contracts and grants; partial research support will be provided by core funds from the Schaeffer Center. The candidate will have an appointment as a Research Assistant Professor within the School of Policy, Planning and Development (USC Price).

USC Price is seeking to expand its funded research in health policy and economics. Funded research in these areas will contribute to the scholarly reputation of the School as well as inform the health care reform debate. The Schaeffer Center is seeking to leverage its resources and increase its capacity in studying hospital markets and health care efficiency.

Qualifications

Prospective candidates should have a record of funded research and scholarship in the areas of health policy and economics with a focus on the industrial organization of health care. The successful candidate would have demonstrated leadership capabilities in major grant solicitation and a track record of publishing in peer reviewed journals. The successful candidate would also have at least 3 years of experience working in his/her field.

The School of Policy, Planning and Development

The Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics

The Schaeffer Center was created in 2009 through a generous donation from health care industry leader Leonard D. Schaeffer with the collaboration of the USC School of Pharmacy and the Price School of Public Policy. The aim of the center is to raise awareness and produce groundbreaking research in the areas of health economics, health policy and pharmaceutical economics.
